SCHMITZ PRESERVE PARK
(5551 SW Admiral Way, Seattle, WA 98116)
It’s free to wander the trails of this wonderful city park in West Seattle. It is a patch of old growth forest.
Look for western red cedar trees and sword ferns, such as in the foreground.
Douglas fir trees,
and hemlocks.
Look for native plants: salal, (Photo by Darren Giles, CC)
bracken fern,
and Oregon grape.
Watch out for nettles. They sting.
The park is just over 53 acres.
A creek runs through the park and out to Constellation Park which lies along the shore of Puget Sound.
