SCHMITZ PRESERVE PARK
(5551 SW Admiral Way, Seattle, WA 98116)
It’s free to wander the trails of this wonderful city park in West Seattle. It is a patch of old growth forest.
Look for western red cedars,
Douglas fir trees,
and hemlocks.
Look for native plants: salal,
sword fern,
bracken fern,
and Oregon grape.
Watch out for nettles. They sting.
The park is just over 53 acres.
A creek runs through the park and out to Constellation Park which lies along the shore of Puget Sound.
The city’s parks website.
The Washington Trails Association website.
A map to get there.

What wonderful day today I went there with my friends. Also we went there after the rain stop. We had fun. We spend our Halloween day there in the ocean.

This is a park in the city. It runs from a neighborhood to Alki Beach. It is like being in the mountains but you are still in the city.

I agree. One can feel far from the city.

The park is gorgeous!!! The natural moss is pretty and covers many trees. It is slippery if you walk on fallen logs. There are small streams here and there that you can hear as you get close.
